The Second Cross In The Clouds

A Slanted Cross

IN THE SPRING OF 1999
LATE ONE AFTERNOON
AS I WAS LEAVING THE CHURCH
OF SAINT STEFANO IN ASSISI
I SAW A CLOUD CROSS
FORMED LIKE A SLANTED X
POISED ABOVE THE TOWN

Because I have had years to contemplate these miracles, I tend to feel that it will be easy for others to understand exactly what occurred. However, since miracles are, to say the least, - 'unusual' - it might be good to offer a detailed description. Therefore, let me state precisely what I witnessed, as plainly as I am able:

The second cross appeared in the spring of 1999, in the sky over Assisi, Italy. I had traveled to Assisi to begin work on the first miracle in the clouds: the cross and the face that I have already described.

Shortly after arriving in Assisi, I visited a small chapel that is dedicated to Saint Stephen and is named, in Italian, St. Stefano. I left the chapel after a short visit. As I emerged and began to cross the small paved yard in front of the chapel, I could not help noticing the huge cross in the clouds that seemed unusually close, perhaps because the town of Assisi is on a hilltop.

This second cross was very different from the first one, which had been geometrically perfect. The cross over Assisi had a bright white, slanted cross bar that was illuminated in spectacular light because the sun was behind the clouds. The vertical beam of the cross was of a light gray column of clouds, less bright than the cross bar. Around the cross were patches of blue sky that were of irregular shapes, and surrounding the cross and the blue sky were gray clouds. This cross could be described as a vertical beam with a slanted cross bar, or as a slanted "X." In other words, a cross made by standing an "X" on one leg, like so: A Slanted X
